About LPG
LPG stands for Liquified Petroleum Gas and is composition of Hydrogen and Carbon gases. It can be Propane, Butane or mixture of both. LPG is colourless and odourless in its natural state and powerful odorant is added for leakage detection. LPG is produced as a by-product during processing of wet gases at oil fields and refining of crude oil at refineries. Propane and Butane are both gases in ambient conditions but can be liquified under modest pressure and temperature conditions. It can easily and safely be stored at room temperature.
Uses and Advantages:
LPG is clean and environment friendly due to low Carbon & Sulphur-free emissions and have clear burning with no soot. It is an efficient energy source in the absence of natural gas and is used as fuel for many residential, commercial and industrial applications. It is commonly used for cooking, heating and for hot water systems. Autogas is the common name for LPG when it is used as fuel in vehicles. In petrochemical industry, LPG is used as basic raw material for production of synthetic plastic, synthetic rubber, synthetic fiber and a lot more hydrocarbon products. It is also used to create SNG or Synthetic Natural Gas. In SNG, it does not need any changes in pipeline network or sizes, and provides the convenience of switching between natural gas and LPG without modifying appliances. LPG is portable and its transportation / storage is quite easy and virtually it can be used anywhere without any fixed network.
